Welcome to Its All About Play.

We are Autism Spectrum Disorder, Transition and Employment consultants.  This site exists for one purpose and that is to provide solutions through consulting to the problems that consumers and their families, educators and professionals affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) face every day.  We can assist with all aspects of ASD from early intervention strategies to employment and all ages in between.  We will share our old stories as they have occurred and the new stories that are occurring every day regarding our battle against ASD.  It is our hope that you glean knowledge from our stories, possibly helping you in your daily struggle.  This is more than a business for us; it is a way of life.

Who is this webpage for? Consumers and their Parents, Educators, School systems, Agencies and Professionals can all benefit from our experience and knowledge.  We specialize in providing solutions to people with ASD and people who assist those with ASD.  The “Services” tab above will take you to a comprehensive list of what we provide.

“We” are Jennifer Sellers, PhD Special Education and Rehabilitation with an emphasis in Autism and Transition, and her husband Keith A. Sellers, a writer, an advocate and a fundraiser.  Our goal is to make a difference in the world of ASD by imparting the knowledge that we have gained through research, trial and error and dogged determination.

While discussing Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) one cold winter’s evening, high school special education teacher, Jennifer Sellers was describing how she had taught their son, Nick, how to read after the experts had told her that he would never be able to.  Her husband, Keith, listened intently as she described her methodology.  “They made a mistake in trying to bring him into their world.  That will not happen, he will fight you every step of the way.  You must enter his world.  You have to put on your detective hat and find out where they are and what is influencing them. You have to make learning fun.  It’s all about play, really.”  A dream was born that night out of the idea that individuals with ASD can lead productive lives.  Our choice of a logo was elementary to borrow a phrase.  The building blocks are both a toy and a tool for learning, as well as the blocks for a strong foundation.  The Sherlock Holmes hat reminds us to always put on our detective hats when searching for a solution.

Jennifer Sellers has a B.A. in History, a M.Ed. in Collaborative Special Education, and a Ph.D. in Special Education with and emphasis in Autism Spectrum Disorders and Transition. She is the Assistant Director of the Auburn University Autism Center and is also the CEO and founder of It’s All About Play, LLC, Autism and Transition Consulting Services (www.itsallaboutplay.com). Her dissertation and research have focused on the employment of adolescents and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Sellers, of The Montgomery Area Autism Crawfish Boil. Their daughter Emily is the co-director of the Montgomery AL Sibling Workshop sponsored by the Alabama Autism Society. Their son, Nick, was diagnosed with ASD in 1992.
